NID was an experimental collective whose aim it was to challenge conventional concepts and structures of electronic music by experimenting with the source of sound. The music was based on natural sounds and noises that were treated and put through various effects. Even with prepared samples and loops, the music as such was improvised and made on the spot, making each performance a genuine and unrepeatable event. It has been described as soundscapes, improvised noise, and brooding ambient electronic music. It has been likened to a journey underwater, a floating dream, a pathway to ones inner self. Given enough volume and bass, it certainly affected the body as well as the mind. You just had to let it come to you… NID existed from 1995-2005. (Myspace)
