Frozen Illuminations is a collection of sketches from a particularly cold winter in Berlin (2009-2010). Taken from sessions at the Grimmuseum + The Frozen Apple Tree. Signs of things to come. 50 copies, limited. (Nothing Out There)

Recorded during the cold winter of last year in Berlin by sound artist Michael Northam, who has also collaborated with Loren Chasse. This is a beautiful intense dreamy mix of the sounds of nature and long, merging lines of gentle feedback that lead deeper and deeper into a cavernous subterranean sound world of oppressively thick atmosphere, chirping birds, torrents of water and weary murmurred chanting. When eventually the listener emerges, it is into a disorientating woolly fog of wowing lullabies and latterly clanging guitar string drone. (Boa Melody Bar)

Enregistrée durant l’hiver 2009 à Berlin, une suite de pièces électroacoustiques (rassemblées sous un unique index) telle un lieu de passage, une musique onirique comme énigmatique, soucieuse du détail comme de la profondeur de champ. Chaleureuse, chantante et mysticodilatateur. Excellent! (Metamkine)

FR Un de mes albums favoris de 2010, bien parti pour continuer à l’être en 2011, très très beau (remarquez, c’est signé Michael Northam donc ce n’est pas vraiment étonnant). Ce disque est épuisé chez Nothing Out There, et puisque la fin du label est programmée (même si sans cesse repoussée), dépechez-vous si vous voulez choper les albums de St. Maurice ou Jeff Gburek. Vous ne pourrez plus dire que vous ne saviez pas.
ENG One of the best things I’ve heard in 2010, truly beautiful. This is sold out from Nothing Out There, try Metamkine or the Boa Melody Bar. And hurry up if you want to buy a copy of the St.Maurice (feat. MNortham and Loren Chasse) or Jeff Gburek albums, because the label will close its doors soon.
